During the exam period, ELTE University Library and Archives supports stressed students with friendly therapy dogs and extended opening hours.

Exam periods often bring stress and anxiety for university students, and the presence of therapy dogs not only supports mental health, but also enriches students’ learning experiences.

In the library, therapy dogs and handlers from the Smile with a Dog Foundation and the Humans for Dogs Foundation are available to students, providing a safe and supportive environment. The effect is guaranteed—four-legged helpers can be visited without prior appointment in the community area on the ground floor of the library during the times indicated on the reading room displays.

Night hours at the library

At the end of the study period and throughout the exam period, the library welcomes readers and those wishing to study with extended opening hours, until 10:00 p.m. on weekdays and Saturdays.

During the evening and early night hours, the following services are available:

• opportunities to read and study in the Main Reading Room, use computers in the ground floor community area, use kitchen appliances (fridge, microwave, cold, hot, and soda water dispensers) in the community area kitchen,

• collect books ordered online during the day from the book pickup machine and borrow them using the self-service loan terminal

• return books using the smart shelf

• self-service printing and photocopying using prepaid or online-accessible virtual cards

• free, self-service scanning

During extended opening hours (Mon–Fri: 8:00 p.m.–10:00 p.m., Sat: 6:00 p.m.–10:00 p.m.) room supervision and general information are provided. The foyer, Main Reading Room, and community area are accessible only with a pre-purchased library card. Self-service services in the foyer continue to be available with a valid library card from 7:00 a.m. on weekdays and from 8:00 a.m. on Saturdays.
